Remembering Mother

The influence of a mother upon the lives of her children cannot be measured.  They know and absorb her example and attitudes when it comes to questions of honesty, temperance, kindness, and industry.”  Billy Graham

Hi friends,

I am doing a tablescape in my garden in honor of Mother.  I did a post a year ago that said “In looking for my Mother’s garden, I found my own.”  She was the most hardworking and devoted person I have ever known. She loved her family and friends.  First and foremost, she loved Jesus. She is walking in the gardens in Heaven with Him now.

I miss Mother so much.  July 24th was her birthday and I am doing a tablescape in the garden as a tribute to her today.

I started in the kitchen putting colors together and looking at this beautiful face.

The wind was blowing and I loved this look.

I have used my gold chargers with these floral plates.   Mother loved flower gardening more than anyone I know.

The flowers are mostly petite roses and hydrangeas from Trader Joes’s.  I love this vase and I’ve added a stand that goes with another vase.

I thought this teapot would bring it all together,  On Sunday afternoons when I was a young girl about 3 PM, we always had a little tea party of sorts.  Mother made various cracker/cheese treats, lemonade or tea for the entire family.  It is a beautiful ritual that I remember with joy.

Gold silverware and these rose colored glasses complete the look.

  1. Dianne, I know the empty place that is left in your heart when your mom is no longer here. Eleven years later, I miss my beautiful mother every day, she was only seventy four when she passed away unexpectedly. I keep a photo of my mom in my kitchen, because she was the best cook and I miss her food terribly. Your mom and mine sound so much alike. Our hope is in the fact that we will see them again. I love that your table is in memory of your mother. It is a feminine and a beautiful table with lovely flowers and flowers on dishes and the tablecloth which is a sweet memory of your mother. I love all of the details. Hugs sweet friend xoxo

  2. This memorable tribute, Dianne, to your Mother is perfect. My heart tells me she is smiling (with the twinkle in her eye) saying “Dianne, you did this for me?” ALL the flowers are “just her and just you.” Your selection of the arrangement, tablecloth, teapot, floral plates and all accompantiants make for this very special Tea in the Garden. Yes, even the small school chairs…..you must know they caught my eye! Photo # 10 has to be my favorite as the Angel in your Sanctuary has come to share in this Birthday celebration # 93 in Heaven. I recently read and quote this unknown writer…..”For this journey that we all must take And each must go alone It’s all a part of the Master’s plan
A step on the road to home. Remembering you today.

    1. So beautifully written Connie. Yes, the angel made his way in. I loved your quote. I treasure your friendship.
