Take time to smell the roses

“We might think we are nurturing our garden but of course it’s our garden that is really nurturing us.”  -Jenny Uglow

Hi friends,

Ina Garten says that her extravagance is her garden and it is the first thing she looks at every morning when she wakes up. Ina Garten is a master chef that I have admired over the years.  Every morning while my coffee brews, I go to the window to look at my garden.  I want to see the beauty of morning breaking, the beauty my garden provides, watch the birds at their feeders and simply to say Thank You Lord for another glorious day.  My inspiration for this post is my knockout roses and one of my beautiful David Austin climbers.  Even though most of my roses are almost gone, I wanted to share this post anyway.  June and July have been very busy months filled with gladness and sadness.

Placed this April Cornell cloth and a vase of roses next to the knockouts.  Looks like they were meant to be together.

This David Austin rose just keeps on climbing.

Sometimes I’m like a child again playing in my garden.

The roses look real on this AC cloth when located near the roses.

Our patio needs some attention but I think these begonias look beautiful in these old beloved pots.  The raised cherubs on these pots add dimension and beauty.  I loved the red as it looks beautiful with the roses and will be pretty with flowers soon to bloom.

The variegated hosta makes a nice border for the patio.

The sweet girl and her kitty occupy a special place in the garden,   Reminds me of my daughter, Jennifer, and her sweet kitty when she was a little girl.  I find JOY in the simplest things.

Well, I have smelled the roses and I must say there is nothing quite like it.  Makes my heart soar!

  1. Good morning, you find joy in the simple things and most of all, God’s creation. The DA climbing rose is gorgeous! I love the AC cloth, so lovely next to the knockout roses. I am sorry to read of sadness. Hugs ♥️

  2. Thank you Pam. Grandmother Townley passed away June 30. Even though she had health issues, it was sudden. Bob and I loved her and she is Davis and Maddie’s other grandmother. We had just celebrated Davis’ high school graduation with her. Say a prayer for my sweet family.
