“JOY is simply the signpost that points us to Jesus.” I love the writings of C. S. Lewis and he writes a lot about joy. I think he discovered this truth as I have and shared it in his book Surprised by Joy.
Hi Friends,
My post today is inspired by a very special friend. She gifted me this beautiful table runner and a pillow I will share in another post. I have a large island in my kitchen and sometimes we use it as a table. My Dining Room table is in the process of decorating and my kitchen table is prepared for a tea party. Bob had an errand to run across town so I hurriedly set this table and made a simple lunch. I knew he would love it because he loves my friend almost as much as I do.
I used a throw that has a red border and then placed the runner on this.
I used my placemats that I bought from Pier I years ago. The plates were a gift from Bob in 2017. He knows my love of cardinals. These stoneware plates are by Susan Winget found at Cracker Barrel.
These beautiful Italian stems are a favorite of mine.
The tree and birdhouse make a sweet centerpiece.
I quickly redid the table for our lunch. Not much change-just removed the throw and added the sandwiches and mugs filled with hearty chicken noodle soup.
I have had this little cake stand for more years than I can count. We love the deli ham and white cheddar cheese from Publix.
I swapped out the utensils for soup spoons only.
Everything feels festive in my kitchen including my chair.
What JOY a day can bring! Wishing everyone the JOYS of the season!
Dianne, you always bring joy into your tablescapes. I love watching the cardinals during the winter months. They are everywhere in my garden this morning. Your table is so lovely and it is always a pleasure to take a virtual seat and feel the warmth of your friendship. Blessings~
Dianne, Your kitchen is so festive. I love your cardinal theme. We have lots of cardinals in our yard and they are delightful. Your cardinal plates are very pretty and the runner with the cardinal is lovely. I enjoyed your commentary and your joy is contagious. Put me in a good mood just reading your blog with your emphasis on joy. Joy is a choice and I try to choose joy.
Wishing you a delightful December and a Merry Christmas.
Thanks for your visit to my tablescape blog.
Forgot to mention your darling cardinal teapot.
