November Days

“I have safely trodden underfoot the leaves of another year.” – Robert Frost

Hi friends,

There is no better time to gather around a table than when the beauty of Autumn is on full display.  There is no better place to unwind and watch the changing leaves in the fall than Western North Carolina.  It is such JOY to find some of this beauty in my own backyard.

“Autumn is the time of picturesque tranquility.” – Sir Kristian Goldmund Aumann

I have used rich tones of the season for my table centerpiece with a variety of roses and hydrangeas in my coal bucket. The simplest arrangement to a formal arrangement looks pretty in this little bucket.

These hybrid tea roses make a sweet showing against this backdrop of pumpkins and gourds.

I love these plates that fit right into the autumn theme of leaves of gold and yellow and brown with a hint of green and red berries that can also be seen on the tablecloth. These colors make me want to linger as I know the colors are quickly fading as the leaves dance around me.

Breaking up the color palette with a hint of natural material, I have used my woven rattan chargers that contribute an added textural element.

I am so glad I did these photos a few days ago as the cold nights have pretty much gotten my lantana.

Part of my garden color that adds seasonal charm.

Lots of pumpkins, cabbage roses, and autumn grasses adds to the layers of autumn color.

In the late afternoon, beams of sunlight through the trees gave me a magical moment.  I have had so many magical moments in my garden,  It is a wonderful place to be quiet and give thanks to the God of the Universe.  I am reminded of the most important things in life…faith, family, friends, good health…JOY!

  1. Dianne, I know you have enjoyed the last days in the garden before it goes to sleep. Your table is beautiful and I would love to sit and enjoy the falling leaves and conversation that we could enjoy! Lovely scene, my friend!
