My mother always told me that the butterfly was a symbol of the resurrection so I have a special love for butterflies and how they can go from a caterpillar to a butterfly. Within its protective casing the caterpillar radically transforms its body, eventually emerging as a butterfly.
Hi friends,
Summer is a magical time for watching butterflies. On Sunday morning, I just sat and watched this beautiful butterfly. Bob was cleaning and replenishing the bird bath and this butterfly was not deterred by his presence. I have a little difficulty identifying some of these butterflies. I think this is an orange butterfly. I suppose it could be a pearl-bordered fritillary. There are 175 species found in North Carolina so I am sometimes pressed to properly identify them.
I try really hard to plant flowers that the butterflies and hummingbirds love.
A hummingbird joined the butterfly this morning but I could not photograph him. They are much too quick for me but I shall keep trying.
He hid in this spot waiting for Bob to finish with the bird bath.
He is a cutie. I think the whole family is living under the tree.
I see them every day…lots of Heavenly visitors.
Another kind of butterfly! Loved as well!
We gardeners are always happy to have butterflies visit. Dianne, I am not sure I have ever had this butterfly visit. Butterflies and bees make me happy flitting and buzzing in the garden! Have a lovely day!
