Thanksgiving Memories

“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever.”

1 Chronicles 16:34

Hi Friends,

Thanksgiving Day is quickly approaching.  I have put together a little table and I have pulled out some of Mother’s precious pieces.  Thanksgiving at Mother and Dad’s was the greatest.  Mother would work on her menu for weeks.  As she would plan, she would call me to seek my approval.  I don’t know how many times we would talk in the two weeks or so prior to Thanksgiving.  As many of you have experienced, our Mother’s prepared a feast. Part of the JOY was the planning and phone calls.  My Mother and Dad knew what love was all about and being a guest in their home was a treasure.

This is Mother’s turkey platter.  Very used and very special to me.  One of her plates that graced her table so many times.

I love these little turkey salad plates.  The colors are so beautiful.  I have had them about three years from Homegoods. These blue napkins work so well with the colors in the plates.

I thought these charges would be perfect but they blend into the table a little more than I desired.  Using a white tablecloth would improve this look.

My feather wreath and candle was a gift from my friend, Elva Lee.  I thought the feather wreath was perfect with the turkey plates.  Elva made the candle using leather and beads.

I have used my 40 year old china and Mikasa stemware.

The memories are bittersweet still but I know she and Dad are setting at a feast that I can’t even imagine. I am still so thankful for the endless hours she spent making her family a feast. I have been so blessed.

  1. What a sweet post Dianne. We both had such wonderful mothers who filled their homes with food and family. I love her turkey platter and your HG turkey salad plates. Wishing you a blessed season of Thanksgiving my friend!
