A Place to Call Home

“But every house where Love abides, and friendship is a guest, Is surely home, and home-sweet-home: For there the heart can rest.” – Henry Van Dyke

Hi Friends,

My friend, Connie, gave me this wonderful book entitled  “A Place to Call Home” by James T. Farmer, III.  His work respects Southern heritage and also freshens the look for the present day.  The result is effortless elegance, comfort and harmony.  In his words, he fell in love with a career of making houses into homes. Today I am using this book as a prop and also using the title as my theme.  There really is no place like home.  To me home means a place where LOVE abides in abundance.  Yes, we want our homes to be sufficient to meet our needs for shelter, food and comfort, but  the greatest of these is love where our hearts take rest.

My centerpiece is part real flowers and some lovely faux flowers for the pitcher.  I love using greenery as a runner for my table and do so often.

This book is usually on my coffee table and I opened it at Christmas to this page.  Beautiful.

Using my blush plates again.  I found them at Marshall’s some time ago for practically nothing and boy have they found a home here.

The place mats and napkins are by Envogue from HomeGoods.

These are glasses that Hazel, my beautiful MIL, gave me.  I miss her so much.  She raised a fine man and she treated me like a daughter.  I could see Jesus in her eyes. We would hold hands and she would talk about her love of our Lord. She resides in her Heavenly Home now.

This vase with the roses belonged to Mother. I miss her terribly.  She left a legacy for Gordon and me that will last forever. Also at Home with the Lord.

These rabbits on the place mats and napkins are insanely cute.  Some of them look like the intellectual type and others like me, surrounding themselves with flowers.  All in all, they have found a home where they will be displayed and loved a lot.

  1. Dianne, your table is stunning! Every detail is beautiful with so many wonderful memories and new ones to be made! But the loveliest detail is the love that shines from your written words! I know that each table you create is a labor of love for your family! Thanks for sharing your gift of love with your readers! Happy Easter sweet friend!

  2. Pam, my prayer in doing this blog was to spread the Love of God in creative ways. Your comments today makes me feel like I am a little successful in doing this. What a blessing to meet a Christian like you! Thank you my friend.

  3. Oh, what a pretty Easter setting! The plates are particularly striking, and I’m impressed you were able to buy them without breaking the bank! The whole setting is just so inviting…truly a place to call home!!!
