Harvest Festival and Candlelight

Thank you, Precious Lord, for those whose lives touch us in miraculous ways.  In remembering, it is my prayer that we honor them and You.

Hi friends,

This tablescape is done in memory of my beloved mother-in-law, Hazel Elizabeth Sharpe.  In October Hazel would have celebrated her 97th birthday.  My candlesticks were a gift from her.  I know she would clasp her hands together and say “Oh, Dianne” and her eyes would twinkle with sheer delight because I am using these beautiful old fashioned vintage candlesticks.

I am using one of my throws as a table covering.  Jenn loved this. I thought she was going to take my table apart just to get this throw.  I needed something plaid and I didn’t have the right thing.  Don’t we love it…throws, quilts and scarfs.

These plates are called “Harvest Festival” by FIFTH….HomeGoods, of course.  I used my woodsy looking chargers that go with the leaf pattern.

This stemware fits in nicely with gold and brown circling the glass.

I decorated one of these lanterns but left one so the detailing would show.  The globes are so beautiful. Thank you my beloved Hazel.

Is there anything like the power of candlelight—it creates an ambiance unmatched by most other things.  These candlesticks belonged to Hazel and she gave them to me during one of her moves.  They look like vintage french pewter or perhaps old Williamsburg.  I don’t know. I just know I love them.   She would love seeing them on my beautiful table.

Red berries to match the ones on the plates.

My green pumpkin is making the rounds from place to place.

Oh, Autumn, you envoke such special memories.  I know Maddie and I will be jumping in piles of leaves and getting ready for Halloween.

There are so many leaves and sticks  I brought them from the yard to table.

This signed print by President Dwight D. Eisenhower proudly adorns one wall of our Dining Room.  This was a piece Bob in from his Uncle Larry and Aunt Lorraine.  Bob’s aunt was Eisenhower’s private nurse during his recovery from a heart attack in late 1955 .  This is a cherished piece in our home.  It is called “The Church in Bavaria.” It must have been done in the fall…the trees have on their fall colors.
