The Douglas Fir and Foxy Lady

“Favour is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.  Proverbs 31

Every since Bob and I have lived here the Douglas Fir has been struggling.  Bob has done everything possible to save this beautiful fir.  He sought advice from experts and others familiar with this tree. You know that old saying “best laid plans can go awry.” So in the next couple of days what is left of it will come down.  Bob handed me a lot of branches saying “I know you will use these someway.”  So I am…..

I am not going to tell you that I am not sad about losing this tree.  I am but I am going to keep the beautiful trimmings for arrangements this fall.  I am using trimmings as place mats today for my foxy lady plates from Pier I.

Looks like these four foxes just came out of the forest. I love to play with greenery so each place setting looks different.

I know the definition of fox is sly and deceitful but I prefer to think about foxy as an attractive lady maybe putting on her jewelry and hat and maybe even high heels.

I used to visit a resort in Hilton Head that had a “Foxy Lady” shop…some of the most beautiful clothes and accessories ever.

I am using my solid red napkins.  They have a lot of texture so they work well with the woodsy stuff.

These are salad plates but really don’t need a dinner plate for appearance.  They are really good at standing on their own.

I also got the pine cones from my yard and added a tiny touch of fall.  I am trying to enjoy all the bounty of the summer season and not get ahead of myself.

Bob now has five foxy ladies in his house (Ha). That is a joke!  Thank you,  my wonderful man, for trying to save the Douglas fir.  I will only cry a little I promise.

Thank you my friends.  Dianne

  1. If this Foxy Lady would just adorn her feet with 6 inch RED HIGH HEELS she could be a “lady of the night” and oh Yes the large hoop ear rings ! Sad to hear you are loosing this once beautiful tree. You will use its branches just as “The Giving Tree” did. Sooooo ready for the pine cones and pumpkins.

    1. Thank you Connie for reminding me of the Giving Tree…it came down today. I, too, am so ready for fall and pumpkins. Dianne

    1. Thank you Pam. I am glad I got this picture as the tree came down today. I have lots of ideas for that spot. It will be good. Dianne
