JOY is the intoxicating beauty of a morning sunrise and the song of a bird.
Hi Friends,
As I was entering the grocery store this past week I eyed a bin of the most wonderful looking peaches. I bought enough for a peach cobbler. My tablescape today is about this nutritious fruit and celebrating National Peach Month.
It all starts with these beautiful blossoms.
Just look at my tablecloth…$12 on sale.
I have set a table for two for Bob and me. We are having potato soup in the large purple bowls and spinach cornbread with the soup. I am going to have some fresh corn in case we want corn chowder. I just add the corn to the potato soup. After years of cooking, I have learned how to simplify.
This is a small portion of my beautiful tablecloth.
I have had these white bowls so long that I cannot remember where I got them. My best guess would be HomeGoods. In these white bowls will be peach cobbler with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream.
I have to tell you that Bob ate my first round of peaches before I got to the cobbler.
Another little shot of my tablecloth…one of those finds we girls get excited about.
This beautiful platter and cups were gifts from my friend Connie. They seem to be perfect with these other colors.
We will have Peach Tea in these pretty mauve tea glasses.
I found these purple bowls at Tuesday Morning. I got them to go with my platter and cups.
This reminds me of how many ways we use the word peach…pretty as a peach, peaches and cream skin, sweet as a peach, everything peachy…..
Fresh peaches are perhaps one of summer’s perfect bounties. I think there is good reason that we recognize August as National Peach Month. I am sharing my first recipe:
Peach Cobbler: 1 cup of self rising flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of milk, 1 stick of butter and two large cups of sliced peaches (I prefer fresh peaches and I use 6 or 7 ripe peaches).
Pour melted butter in oblong pan. I use glass casserole pan. Mix flour, sugar and milk together. Pour over melted butter.
Cover with peach slices
Bake at 350 degrees until batter rises to top and forms a nice brown crust about 30 minutes. Easy! Delicious! And simple!
Have a blessed day. Dianne
