Joy of a Garden Party

“In looking for my Mother’s garden, I found my own.”

My garden has been a great joy to me this year.  Right now I don’t have a lot blooming but waiting on the sedum and zinnas to bloom.  For Pam’s Garden Party, I want to recap some of the joyful moments spent in my garden this year.IMG_0529

Some of my first bloomers were daffodils and tulips.  I even transplanted some to this basket for my front porch.IMG_0501

The bleeding hearts, also transplanted from MOTHER’S garden, were amazingly beautiful.

This tall beautiful iris was also at Mothers and I brought it to my garden.  It is named after the Greek goddess who rode rainbows.  It comes in many colors.

My roses have been outstanding.  Pure love for me.IMG_0015.JPG

There is a garden in every childhood…..an enchanted place.IMG_1203

Our sanctuary is shaded by a canopy of  trees. Bob painted Mother’s old glider and we have a park bench in this area,  I enjoy decorating them with pillows and throws.

The basket on my front porch now has asparagus fern.

My two black urns on the front porch are filled with red geraniums at the moment.  I change them as seasons change.IMG_0004.JPG

I am talking and tending to these but they have been slow to grow. I have two of these.  They look so pretty on this weathered board.IMG_0011.JPGIMG_0008.JPG

My lilies are blooming in several colors.IMG_0009.JPG

  1. Dianne,
A big bonus that we can see a collage of your early Springtime and now your Summertime beauties. I especially love your scantuary and your Mother’s chair and quilt that accompany your “resting angel.”

  2. Every picture has love in it. I can relate to enjoying your mother’s plants and garden things. I have to remember because I don’t have any of my mother’s plants. I lost her 33 years ago and it was overwhelming to break down my parents home so I only got a few plants. My love of gardening and flower arranging came from my mother. I did get a few of her iris but later moved to Alaska and couldn’t take them with me.
Your garden and porch are beautiful.I enjoyed your post. There is joy in the garden.

Thank for such heartfelt comments. My blog is a tribute to my Mother. This is a good way to remember our wonderful mothers. I think I am set up to follow your blog now. God Bless. Dianne

  3. Dianne, your post tugs at my heart strings…especially your mother’s quilt and chair. I still get to enjoy my mother’s flowers, she passed away ten years ago, but I am grateful to have my Daddy and he still lives independently in their home they so enjoyed together. You have some amazing blooms, the roses are exquisite along with all the other blooms from spring until now! I sensed so much love in your post…thanks for sharing at Gardens Galore!
